“It’s the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen.” – John Wooden

Little things make a big difference when it comes to financial planning. A decimal point, a comma, a percentage point – all seemingly small things that can be the distinction between failure and success in achieving your financial goals.  It is also why we spend time at each and every meeting gathering updates. Long term projections and plans rely on accurate and up-to-date information so we can move beyond account balances and on to strategic conversations about your goals and lifestyle visions.

One of the best ways to maintain accurate information with us is to take advantage of your Stonegate Financial Planning Portal (aka eMoney) and link as many of your financial accounts as possible. Your personal planning website compiles all your information in one dashboard that is capable of updating in real time and gives you a snapshot of your net worth and progression toward goals. Linking your 401(k) allows us to review holdings at a moment’s notice, and the account balance will update automatically so you won’t need to manually update data or provide current balances to us prior to each meeting.

Financial planning is a process that helps us connect the dots between each area of your financial life – and your Planning Portal is a tool that allows us to connect the dots even more quickly and efficiently.

  • For a general overview of the features available through the Stonegate Financial Planning Portal, please see this video overview.
  • For assistance with linking your accounts to your personal planning website, please refer to the tips in this step-by-step guide.

Now that you’ve read this far, you may be asking yourself a few questions:

Q. What types of accounts should I link to my personal planning website?

A. Any financial account that has online access (username and password) can be linked. This would include bank accounts, investment accounts such as your 401(k) or 529 plan, mortgages, loans, insurance, or health savings accounts.

Q. What information is available once I link my accounts?

A. The Stonegate Financial Planning Portal takes a snapshot each night to update the balances and holdings associated with each linked account. While for some accounts you may be able to see individual transactions, that data is NOT visible to us as your advisors. Also, there is no way for anyone to move money or make changes to the linked accounts via the site.

Q. How secure is my information?

A. eMoney is the vendor who we partner with to provide our clients with their individual planning sites. For more detailed information on eMoney’s data security, please Click Here.

Q. What if I don’t have access to my personal planning website?

A. If you are not currently set up with a username and password, or you’ve forgotten them, please email me at lauren.tompkins@sgfnc.com or call the office to get set up!
